Ok Lets' Talk Film, so I am hearing a lot about this Twilight film and I can't help but wonder why the MTV generation and the new preteen generation is so excited about it. I guess the books are supposed to be marvelous according to the teen generation. I saw the trailer and summized that it looks like The Hills meet The Lost Boys. But no Heidi Montag to sell out her soul to Spencer. I have read that they will film sequels back to back of the two other novels. I am thinking that someone thinks this will be a huge take off. I am also guessing that in order to appeal to its target audience, it will need to be PG-13, which allinates the 30 year old male generation, who could care less about a PG-13 teen Vampire story. Teen Witch anyone? Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Robin Livley is available as well as her sister Blake. Also I noticed that this film is being released in December which all movies that are released in December are considered Oscar worthy or family oriented. Since this film is neither, I wonder what business it has being released at that time. I smell disaster for Twilight. Sure I could be wrong, it may be good. But, it seems to be a watered down Vampire story that is a Romeo and Juliet. The R and J scenario worked well with Titanic, Could it work with a vampire story. And have we seen way too many Vampire movies. Writers seem to never get over writing Vampires. I guess Vampires are cool. I have never thought that, but I am no longer 18.
The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian rolls into theaters this weekend. I wonder how much it will make? Well seeing that Iron Man is king of the box office and the first Narnia was boring, I sense that only true fans of the book will roll out to see it. I think the only thing to save Prince Caspian would be word of mouth. Speaking of word of mouth, that is what is making Iron Man number one at the box office. I was thinking Hollywood was learning that good movies make money. But with Speed Racer and What Happens in Vegas getting bad reviews, I think they haven't learned anything. Well that what happens when you get the writer of the horrid Wedding Date to pen a high profile romantic comedy. Well that's it for day one. Let's talk film tomorrow!
