All I Got From My Dissapointment Was A Friggin' Apology Letter..

Now there's a Batman release date...

Ok, let's talk film. Here is the actual apology letter written by Alan Horn CEO extrordinare at Warner.
Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to Summer 2009.

Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability.

The decision to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support.

If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between Half-Blood Prince and the much-anticipated first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which opens in November 2010.

So although we have to wait a little longer for Half-Blood Prince, the wait from that film until Deathly Hallows will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.

Here is really what he should have said.

I keep reading all your blogs and my neice has expressed her rage in our moving Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to Summer 2009. In fact there is not a soul on this planet that has agreed with this decision

Please be assured that we share your love for cash cows as Harry Potter. Hell it could be French Documetries you guys like. We don't care and we will roll them out if you demand it! We would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films except as you know not hiring back Alfonso Cuaron because we felt he was too "artsy". Over the past 10 years, we have tried to rush each film before these kids get too old and the kept the integrity of the books upon which they are very very very very very very very loosely based, to the best of our ability. (which without Spielberg directing, isn't much)

The decision to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was not taken lightly over sushi lunch, (I put too much wasabi into my soy sauce at one point) Boy that was rough for me. We never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have kept buying tickets, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and financial support. You can be excited as you want for the films, but if you don't buy tickets, we don't make movies.

If I may offer a silver lining: We are taking The Dark Knight's release date in order to offer us a better chance to break the 400 million dollar mark. That's what it really comes down to. Oh yeah and there would have been a two-year gap between Half-Blood Prince and the much-anticipated first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which opens in November 2010. Well we all know that this series is so easy to forget. We are so totally doing you a favor.

So really we just want to wear the Bat suit next summer. I mean come on The Dark Knight is on fire! Who doesn't want a peice of that?! So that is what it really all comes down to. If I can break 400 million, I can stay working in Hollwood for a long time.
